Made it Asheville. This is beautiful part of the country. Lots of greenery and beautiful sights. After a quick stop at the Carolina Cigar shop we enjoyed some drinks and food in downtown Asheville. Went to the Lexington Avenue Brewery (LAB) and enjoyed a pretty good IPA.

Went on a great hike at the botanical gardens. Very peaceful walk in the woods with babbling creeks and lots of trees. This is a great way to start the day. So relaxing. We like it so much we are talking about buying a place in the hills were we can construct our own walking trail.

Made another trip into downtown Asheville in search of liquor and food. Also to enjoy the many street performers know as “Buskers”. The city requires them to stay 40 feet apart and they move spots every hour or so. It started in the 1980’s and is going strong. Very cool. Some pretty interesting drinking establishments as well. Bars are illegal in North Carolina so they all operate as “Private Clubs”. You have to join the club to be allowed to drink at them. So Missy is now a member of two fine “Private Clubs”. She got me in as a guest.

Had another great hike this morning along Hominy Creek. This area is absolutely beautiful.

Toured the Biltmore Mansion today. We did it when we were in Asheville 11 years ago. Back then it was pretty informal. The have upped their game and added resturants, a winery, several shops and hotels. The tour has expanded as well including the basement where the bowling alley and swimming pool is located. The home is on 8,000 acres and took 6 years to build.

I have taken up Cigar smoking while on this trip and am starting to really enjoy it. It is amazing the different types, flavors, and prices. I am learning a lot about cigars and the cigar culture.

Today marks 2 months since we left home. Been having a ball but we miss family and have decided to return to California. It will take a while but should be back in a month or so. It has also been 5 months since I got my new bionic knee. It is progressing as well. Not completely back but making progress. We are moving on the Knoxville, Tennessee tomorrow. Few days on a lake and plan to visit Pigeon Forge and maybe Dollywood.
